ALLEN RUCKER


Allen Rucker is the author or co-author of eleven books of humor and non-fiction. His first-person account of becoming paralyzed at middle age, called “The Best Seat In The House: How I Woke Up One Tuesday and Was Paralyzed for Life,” was published by HarperCollins in January, 2007. The book became a New York Times “Editor’s Choice,” among others. In 2005, he received the special WGA Joan Young Award for career distinction as a writer with a disability. He is a contributing editor for “New Mobility” magazine and writes a bi-weekly blog for the Christopher Reeve Foundation website. He lectures widely and chairs both the Writers with Disabilities Committee at the WGA and the 2011 Media Access Awards.

Dr. Bruce Hensel is considered by many to be a preeminent Physician/Journalist/Broadcaster in America. Currently he is Chief Medical Editor for NBC4LA, Talk Show host on KTLK 1150 AM and formerly was at WNBC in NY. He has won 7 Emmys and 2 golden mikes.! In addition to all of his many broadcast accomplishments, Dr Hensel is Board Certified in two specialties: Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and is a full Professor of Medicine at UCLA. He has dedicated his life to empowering people with the information they need to get the most out of their medical care, avoid being victimized, and in short, increase their chances of living vibrant healthy lives.

Percy H Pinkney currently serves as State Field Representative for US Senator Dianne Feinstein as well as serving as state president of the Black American Political Association of California. He has served the state of California since 1968, starting as a social worker and probation officer for the city an county of San Francisco, specializing in gang intervention and diversion work. Pinkney has received numerous awards from the Governor’s office, the state Senate, State Assembly, the US Senate, US Congress and various community organizations.

ERICA DAVIS


Erica Davis has been an athlete for as long as she can remember. On December 27, 2005 at the age of 24, Erica had a microscopic bleed in her spinal cord called a Cavernous Hemangioma which left her paralyzed from the chest down. 24 days in the hospital made Erica wonder if she would ever play sports again. It has been over 5 years since Erica’s injury and she has participated in more sports than many able-bodied people will do in their lives. In 2010, at 27 years old, Erica flew from LA to Minneapolis to Amsterdam to Tanzania in her pursuit to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Her successful attempt after a 6 day adventure has proved her to be the first paralyzed woman to climb the largest mountain in Africa.

Lou Ferrigno, is the youngest and only person to hold the title of Mr. Universe for two consecutive years.! Since his years as a bodybuilder, Lou has been an Actor, Writer, Trainer, LASD Reserve Deputy Sheriff and travelled the world as a motivational speaker, He has been an advocate for health and fitness and an inspiration to many.! Lou has spent over 30 years of his life advocating a healthy lifestyle and advocating movement as an essential element of a healthy mind and body.

Frank D. Navarro, a graduate of San Diego State University, has over 30 years’ experience in the business of medicine. Prior to joining CMA in 2000, he worked as billing manager for a group of 350 emergency physicians. Frank Navarro sits on the Division of Workers’ Compensation Advisory Committee for the standardization of claim submissions and reporting requirements. He is also responsible for CMA’s Educational Program, the CMA staff representative to the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee and is a consultant to CMA’s Workers’ Compensation Technical Advisory Committee.

Larry Carroll is a former News Anchor at the CBS/Infinity- owned KFWB radio News 980, he worked 30 years in Los Angeles television news, including a 17-year stint at KABC- TV, and worked as the news anchor at KCBS-TV and West Coast correspondent for "NBC Nightly News." He also worked as executive vice chairman and co-founder of One Origin Inc. and directs its strategic and corporate planning, development and production for radio programming. He has been the recipient of an NAACP Image Award and an Emmy, 7 Golden Mike awards, an AP Award, the 20th Anniversary Award for Journalistic Excellence from the Congressional Black Caucus and the Grand Award of the National Association of Black Journalists for Excellence in International Reporting.
